I studied Solid State Design, Nuclear Instrumrntation, and Spectroscopy at the University Of Cambridge in England.
My very first Amateur Radio Station was totally Home Made, and have designed and built many High Power Linear Amplifiers from 160 Meters to 24Ghz. Also operated EME (Moon Bounce) for many years, from 2M to 10Ghz, operated my last EME in the year 2006 with a 1296Mhz contact with Howard G4CCH, I was running a single 7289 at approx. 70 watts into a 3.6 Meter (12 foot) Dish. I will also state that Amateur Radio is NOT a right, but very much a Privilege that I am proud to be a part of.
I also play, or used to play several instruments, now only Guitar, Tin whistle and Mouth Organs, used to play Acording, Banjo, etc, etc. I also played Hockey for many years, first as a Defenceman and the last 14 years as a Goalie.
